Accessibility Statement
This website is being continuously developed toward digital accessibility. Below you will find a transparent view of the current status, the assessment methodology, open items, and the feedback channel.
Convenience translation. The legally binding version is the German Barrierefreiheitserklärung. In case of any discrepancy, the German version prevails.
Self-conception
Accessibility is a quality attribute for us — substantively aligned with the core of our work. As a software-quality consultancy, we take the assessment of our own website seriously and are open about where we are not yet at the goal. This document describes the status as of the date above and is updated regularly.
Scope
This statement applies to the website qct.de including all publicly accessible subpages. Externally linked content (e.g. partner websites, embedded third-party services such as cookie banners or map services) is not covered.
Legal basis and target standard
There is no direct statutory accessibility obligation for this website — QCT is a private B2B consultancy and does not fall within the immediate scope of BITV 2.0 (German public bodies) or BFSG (German digital consumer products/services). Nevertheless, we orient ourselves on the recognised target standard WCAG 2.1 Level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines of the W3C) in order to make the website as usable as possible for people with impairments and to be demonstrably prepared for cooperation in the public sector.
Status of conformance
In our assessment, the website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. The basic structure (semantic HTML, heading hierarchy, alt texts for informative images, keyboard navigation of main paths, light and dark modes with sufficient contrast variation) is implemented. There are some known limitations listed below.
Assessment method
The assessment is based on a self-evaluation by QCT — no external audit. We combine:
- Automated testing with Lighthouse and axe DevTools for measurable aspects (contrasts, ARIA attributes, landmark structure).
- Manual testing of keyboard navigation, focus indicators and screen-reader behaviour in samples.
- Code review of all custom-developed templates and shortcodes in the child theme.
The assessment is an ongoing process. Evaluations are documented and the findings feed into the improvement backlog.
Known limitations
The following items are not yet fully accessible and are on the improvement agenda:
- Colour contrasts on accent surfaces: Some secondary texts on coloured backgrounds do not consistently reach AAA contrast. Core areas (body text, headings, primary CTAs) have been checked and meet AA. A systematic contrast audit is planned.
- PDF downloads: CVs are available as PDFs on the profile page. The essential content is also directly available as an HTML version on the same page — the PDFs are supplementary. A PDF/UA-conformant revision of the CVs is planned for the next update. Future playbook downloads for services will be created accessibly from the outset. On request we will provide content in alternative formats.
- Third-party elements: Some embedded services (e.g. cookie banner, contact form) do not fully follow our target standard. We are evaluating alternatives.
Positively assessed aspects
- Semantic HTML with clear heading hierarchy
- Meaningful alt texts for all informative images
- Dark and light modes with consistently checked text colours
- Keyboard-accessible main navigation and all primary CTAs
- Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements (WCAG 2.4.7)
- Support for
prefers-reduced-motion— animations and automatic media playback are silenced when the corresponding system setting is active - Manual pause/play button in the hero slider (WCAG 2.2.2)
- Preview effects in wayfinder sections also triggerable via keyboard focus
- Landmark structure (header, main, footer, breadcrumb) for screen readers
- Responsive layout down to 320 px width (WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow)
- Clearly legible font sizes and sufficient line spacing
Work plan
Prioritised next steps:
- Systematic contrast audit of secondary texts on accent surfaces and adjustments where necessary.
- Screen-reader sampling of dynamic sections (slider, archive accordion, wayfinder).
- PDF/UA-conformant revision of the CVs on the profile page.
- Documented review checklist for future content updates.
- Evaluation of accessible alternatives for third-party elements (cookie banner, contact form).
Larger rebuilds will be implemented as part of the regular evolution of the website.

Creation and update
This statement was created in 04/2026 by QCT and is based on a self-evaluation. The next regular review is planned for the same month of the following year. We also update the statement out of cycle in case of larger website changes.
